All Tanzanians who wish to come to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Qatar for employment opportunity are advised first to consult the Embassy before reaching a final decision and sign any contract. The Embassy will furnish important information regarding to the nature of the job, possible pros and cons, working environment (which normally not explained in the contract), reality of employer - employee relationship in Arab countries, laws and regulations, behaviour and traditions of their potential employers, possible problems which might be faced in their employment etc.
It is highly encouraged and advised that, no Tanzanian has to make decision of engaging in any employment without first seeking advice of the Embassy, be it a professional or non-professional one. The information he/she will receive from the Embassy will assist him/her to make rationale decision before embarking to the new working conditions which is not familiar with his/her home country. The advice can be issued via telephone conversations, e-mail, postal letter or by fax and will costs nothing to the one who seek it, as it is free of charge.
SIGNING THE LABOUR CONTRACT:
Before signing any legal contract, it is advised that, an aspiring employee has to understand the nature and terms of the contract. He is advised also to seek opinion of his family members and to know the amount of his potential salary before signing any contract. He has to know also about health insurance, accommodation facilities, working hours, matters of holiday and weekends, overtime and annual leave/vacation. He has to sign the documents after knowing the content of the contract. It is also advised to conclude any agreement in Swahili language or other language he/she understand proficiently.
It is hereby warned that, a Tanzanian aspiring to get job in Arab countries not to rush to sign any contract written in Arabic if he/she doesn’t know the language. He/she has to refuse signing the agreement at the airport vicinity on the day of departure. He/she has to get the copy of the contract as early as possible so that to read and understand it and to consult family and friends before making final decision.
If he satisfies him/herself that, he has to sign a contract, it is better to have the following records all the time of his/her employment.
At least two copies of his/her passport.
At least two passport size photographs.
At least two copies of his working contact.
Record of the date of starting the job.
Full name and address of his employer/sponsor.
Full names and addresses of at least two of his relatives in Tanzania.
LAWS, CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS.
Arab countries in general and Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar in particular, have different laws, customs and traditions which are not same with Tanzanian one. Every Tanzanian who is working in these countries or is expected to come to these countries for work or vacation is required to observe the norms of these countries even if they are new to him. The Embassy is clearly announces that, it is not ready to enter into any legal conflict with the Government authorities of these countries as a results of Tanzanians who intentionally breach the laws and when apprehended, seek the intervention of the Embassy on the matter.
Any new arrived Tanzanian is advised to ask the Embassy or to the Tanzanian Society in his area first before engaging to any undertaking as the information is available free of charge upon request. It should be born in mind that, ignorance of laws in any way is not a defence and the Embassy emphasizes the adherence of laws to avoid any possible legal problems.
LABOUR DISPUTES:
The Embassy encouraged the peaceful working environment between foreign employer and Tanzanian employee. In case of misunderstanding between the duo, it is advised to settle the matter amicably. In case the Tanzanian employee decided to seek the Embassy’s assistance, he must furnish the following documents.
Copy of the registration form. This is the form he/she submitted to the Embassy during his/her registration. This means that, the Embassy will entertain those disputes from Tanzanians who registered themselves to the Embassy upon their arrival.
Duly filled Complaints Form commonly called "Fomu ya Kujitambulisha Ubalzini Kwa Watanzania Wenye Matatizo Nje". This form is available free of charge in our Embassy or Jeddah Consulate. You may also click here to download it.
Copy of Passport to signifies that, the complainant is a Tanzanian.
Copy of a contract between Tanzanian employee and a foreign employer.
Copy of the resident and work permit.
Any other documents which he/she thinks are important to the knowledge of the Embassy.
