Text Box:             EMBASSY OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA, RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA   PASSPORT APPLICATION: All Tanzanians who are living in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait are required to have the new Electronic Passports issued by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. The old passports cease to be applicable since 30 September, 2005. Applicants of the new passport are required to appear at the Embassy in person and fill the Passport Application Forms which are available for 200 Saudi Riyals. It is expressly stated that, passports are only issued to people with Tanzanian citizenship and not otherwise.   Necessary Documents: Five (5) passport size photographs with blue light background. For more information about the photographs please click link on Visa Application and go to Procedures for Issuance of Visa and go to item number 2.   If the applicant holds an old passport, he has to attach photocopy of his/ her old passport with DN/IF number.   If the applicant is a newborn baby, the application must have a photocopy of his/her father’s passport, birth certificate of a baby and father’s birth certificate.   Certificate of Tanzanian Citizenship for those Tanzanians with registered citizenship.   if the applicant previously was given passport and it is still valid, but it was stolen, destroyed by fire, lost or non-existent in one way or another, he / she has to attach also the followings.   i)                    Report-cutting of the lost announcement appeared in a widely circulated local newspaper. If the newspaper is not in Swahili or English languages, he has to translate the page.   ii)                  A Police Report confirming the loss or destruction of previously issued passport.   Duration for Processing Passport: From the day the application is submitted to the Embassy, the applicant has to wait for not less than two months. Once his/her new passport is ready he / she will be informed by telephone. It is hereby insisted that, the contacts telephone numbers written in the application form must be correct to avoid any delay or inconvenience.         EMERGENCE TRAVEL DOCUMENTS (ETD): In case a passport applicant wants to travel to Tanzania before the arrival of his new passport, he may apply to the Embassy for the Emergency Travel Document commonly known as ETD. This document is issued in lieu of passport and it costs 100 Saudi Riyals.   Necessary Documents: There is no special form for ETD application. The applicant is required to write an ordinary official letter and submit it to the Embassy with the attached documents same as in Passport Application except for the photographs where he/ she will submit only two photographs instead of five.   Duration for Processing ETD: With all necessary documents attached, the ETD is issued within ten (10) minutes.   NB: It is hereby expressly provided that, passport processing is done at the Embassy and in our Consulate in Jeddah thus, there are no intermediate persons or agents who were appointed to process passport applications on behalf of the Embassy. All official information regarding to Tanzanian passport in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar are also obtained in the Embassy in Riyadh or Consulate in Jeddah and not from individual persons outside the Embassy.
